GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) -- Craig Levein is set to sign a contract as Scotland coach after Dundee United agreed Wednesday to release him subject to the country's football association agreeing to compensate the club.  

By DONNA KELLY News Chief staff DUNDEE - Dundee town staff members celebrated the holiday season - and surviving a tough year - with a steak dinner, a $100 Christmas bonus and employee service awards during its annual Christmas luncheon Wednesday at the Community Center.  

CRAIG LEVEIN gathered Dundee United's first team around him on the training ground yesterday morning so he could discuss with them the only matter in hand - their Boxing Day game with Kilmarnock.  

Coming off a pair of tough losses, Batavia's boys basketball team came out with a purpose in Tuesday's Elgin Holiday Tournament game against Dundee-Crown. The Bulldogs aggressively took the ball to the basket while building a double-digit, first-quarter lead and never looked back in a 62-31 rout. Batavia will face Glenbrook South at noon Wednesday.
