Punter Dustin Colquitt currently leads the Kansas City Chiefs , and the NFL, in a few important punting categories. Ranking 16th and 22nd in punt and kick return coverage last season, the Chiefs are now one of four teams that rank in the top ten of both.
An impressive turnaround I must say.
This weekend, Colquitt and the Chiefs will face one of the better punters in the NFL. Mike Scifres of the Chargers is about a tenth of a yard ahead of Colquitt for career net punting average, since... Read Full Story

The Oakland Raiders are preparing to face the Kansas City Chiefs and one of the top punters in the NFL in Dustin Colquitt .
Colquitt's putting up some pretty impressive numbers at the halfway point and part of that has to do with a somewhat unorthodox kicking style - he's left-footed.
To prepare for this, the Raiders worked out yesterday Ricky Schmitt who, you guessed it, is left-footed . He's likely part of the show team that simulates the Chiefs punter.
Colquitt is currently... Read Full Story
There's a maxim that floats around football circles that says you can really only judge a draft class after three years. As we gear up for the 2008 draft, I'll be revisiting the Chief's draft classes over the last few years and grading them. I'm taking into a lot of factors with these grades -- round picked, expectations, position, etc. Also, in the case of trades, I'll grade the trade as well. As a side note, was the 2005 draft weak or what? Geez... Round 1, #15 overall, LB Derrick Johnson... Read Full Story

You were wondering if the Kansas City Chiefs had something to hang their hat on? Well, they do.
Punter Dustin Colquitt is the best punter in the NFL a month into the 2009 season.
Colquitt's 26 punts are second in the NFL and that's not a good thing for the Chiefs offense. But he's taking advantage of those opportunities.
His 44.5 net yard average is No. 1 in the NFL. His 2.5 yards per return is also No. 1 in the NFL.
Only one punter has created more fair catches. His nine punts... Read Full Story
He's the unsung hero. He'll also put together more yards than any other player on the Chiefs this year - possibly by far depending on our consistency at the starting quarterback position.
Since 2005, the Chiefs have enjoyed one of the best punters in the game in Dustin Colquitt . And these last couple years, that questionable third round choice (after all, who selects a punter that early?!) has turned into perhaps the most dependable asset in these trying times. In just a few short seasons... Read Full Story
One day his boss showed him a newspaper that said UT was holding tryouts for punters. Colquitt, not entirely enthralled with a career in a department store, wrote a letter to George Cafego, Tennessee's legendary kicking coach.
In the spring of 1974, Colquitt enrolled and showed up for spring practice. By the 1975 season-opener, Colquitt, a sophomore, was UT's punter. Read more .
