Background: Dwayne De Rosario may not look Canadian with those patented dreadlocks, but he is. Frank Yallop brought him to America to play in MLS , but he has ensured he stayed here with his meticulous passes and historic affinity for the clutch goal. There are few players in league history with more honors that De Ro, so he belongs here. Career: De Rosario played nearly 200 games and scored almost 50 goals for the same team, but he did it in two different towns because San Jose became Houston in 2006. He’s now with the Reds and doing well, but he will always ... Read Full Story

The 2007 Houston Dynamo would win the 2007 MLS Cup just like they won the 2006 MLS Cup, by beating the New England Revolution in a thrilling Cup Final. In doing so, the 2007 Dynamo would become the first team since DC United to repeat as MLS Cup Champions. The biggest reason the 2007 Dynamo made this list though is because the squad simply had perhaps the greatest defense in league history. In 30 games, they only gave up a paltry 23 goals. Pat Onstad deserves much of the credit, as he broke the league record for lowest GAA in a season. The leadership, ... Read Full Story

The Recent Results: Toronto ’s play last season reeked of a stench as bad as the notorious “red tide”. If you have never had the displeasure of experiencing such odors, I commend you for your luck. In 2008, TFC finished dead last in the East, 13th in goals scored and 9th in goals allowed. Sure, it was only their second season, but they looked bad . The Man in Charge: John Carver controls the Reds’ fortunes and he and Big Mo Johnston have been wheeling and dealing this offseason to make TFC into a contender. I like Carver but I wonder how he and ... Read Full Story

If you were able to catch the second half of the Houston Dynamo v. FC Dallas Thursday night (27 June); besides tuning in to a very physical match with both teams playing for keeps, you also may have noticed something else quite interesting. The Dynamo’s favorite Canadian, Dwayne De Rosario, was running across field and was being hounded…no mauled…by Dallas’ Marcelo Saragosa. De Rosario, to his credit, kept his feet the entire run despite being kicked and having his shirt pulled. Now this is where it gets interesting. The referee blows the whistle to signal the foul against Saragosa - who then proceeds to ... Read Full Story

Recap : HOU had another dominant season. In fact, they lost fewer games (5) than any other team in the league, including CMB. If they had not started so slowly, they would have been Supporters Shield winners in 2008. Of course, their fantastic regular season didn’t ensure playoff success, but HOU still gets an A for 2008. Offense : As usual, the Dynamo’s offense performed amongst the best in the league, and it finished tied for third overall with Dallas in goals scored. The scary thing was they did it without De Rosario’s usual brilliance. You can’t argue with results though, and they were ... Read Full Story
