A portal about Dwight Freeney and the Colts. Dwight Freeney played for Syracuse in college and has been a pro football player for 5 years. He's a defensive end.
When Peyton Manning first came to Indianapolis, he wanted to be one of the guys — not some glamorous No. 1 pick. So the rookie turned down endorsement deals, limited his public appearances and avoided any hint of distractions by focusing almost exclusively on football. A dozen years and three MVP awards later, Manning's style hasn't changed. Yes, he may cut a commercial during the bye week or in the offseason. Otherwise it's all football all the time. "What Peyton does is very unique... Read Full Story
The Colts' defense will probably always be in Peyton Manning's shadow. Indianapolis defenders are OK with that, as long as they keep winning. The Colts' less-heralded defense helped Indianapolis to tie New England's NFL record of 21 consecutive regular-season wins with a 27-17 win over Tennessee on Sunday. The Colts can break the record next Sunday against Denver. "If we get the attention and everybody gives us our props, it's OK," defensive end Dwight Freeney said. "If we don't, we can use... The Indianapolis Colts have waived defensive end Josh Thomas and defensive back Anthony Madison. Both were waived Tuesday after signing with the Colts to add depth to a defense hit by several injuries. Thomas rejoined the team last week when Indy wasn't sure if four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Dwight Freeney could play with an abdominal injury at Houston. Freeney sat out, and Thomas went into the defensive line rotation. The move with Madison could indicate that the Colts will get cornerback... Read Full Story
Dwight Freeney spent the first three quarters Sunday night in the Arizona Cardinals backfield. He was relegated to watching the final 15 minutes from the Colts locker room. The Colts are hoping Freeney won't be a spectator this Sunday after hurting his right quadriceps in Indy's 31-10 victory over the Cardinals. Team officials were trying to get answers Monday about the severity of the injury and how much time, if any, the Colts' top pass-rusher might miss. Coach Jim Caldwell and team... Read Full Story
When Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis emerged as a tag-team menace for quarterbacks, Indianapolis opponents foiled them with extra blockers. All the time. Now the Colts are plotting their counter move. New defensive coordinator Larry Coyer has spent the past five months devising ways to free up players like Freeney and Mathis to become more effective — without sacrificing the system or the core principles that led the Colts to a Super Bowl title after the 2006 season. Typically, one would think that if the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns would hook up, then there would be lots of offense by both sides; if you thought that, then you would have thought wrong. Indianapolis Colts 18, New England Patriots 15
Classic Colts-Patriots: you had New England eating up the clock and controlling the tempo, Peyton Manning making all the big plays through the air, Adam Vinatieri deciding it with a 52-yard field goal and Bill Belichick barely shaking Tony Dungy’s hand afterward.
