What's a Healthy Weight? Body Mass Index (BMI) Defined

By webindex on  From nutritionheart.blogspot.com
Although nutrition experts still debate the precise limits of what constitutes a healthy weight, there's a good working definition based on the ratio of weight to height. This ratio, called the body mass index (or BMI for short), takes into account the fact that taller people have more tissue than shorter people, and so tend to weigh more. Dozens of studies that have included more than a million adults have shown that a body mass index above 25 increases the chances of dying early, mainly...Read Full Story

Another Random Snack Entry - Potato Hash and a Carb on Carb Spring Roll

By Deanlo on  From gourmandizer.blogspot.com
First, a quick plug for Jack's Egg Farm. Damn those eggs are sturdy. I thought I was cracking a frozen egg but turns out the shell was just really thick. I don't know how many generations it takes to breed thick shelled egg laying hens but Jack's has got it down good. So I was making spring rolls from a mise en place my mom had put together earlier this morning. But I ran out of filling and I had like 5 wrappers left over. Union Square Green Market Popcorn on the Cob

By Deanlo on  From gourmandizer.blogspot.com
I've had this corn for about 2 months now. Tried making kettle corn twice but it kept turning into some smokey form of caramel corn -- fail. So I left the kernels on the cob, like the dude suggested, and popped it right into the microwave on the popcorn setting. With bowl and plastic wrap, of course. 2 minutes later.... still nothing... and then the first pop. I hit the minute plus button and let it go until it started to burn. Trust me, it didn't take long. So we (cobby and I) get to the end...Read Full Story

If there is one way to get breakfast and lunch and dinner into your  body all in one sitting and maybe have a massive heart attack all in one go, I think this burger could help you do that. I am one of those people who will go to the OC Fair and try everything from fried twinkies to a large Turkey leg, but this gross looking donut bacon cheese burger is just wrong. I don’t think I could eat that. I love donuts and I love...Read Full Story

By xorsyst on  From omgirock.com

But there was always one understood rule that you were scared into believing, and punished if you broke it… No eatting Play-Doh. Fast foward a few decades to the 2009 Toy Fair .
