According to Wikipedia.org: Ecuador, officially the Republic of Ecuador is a representative democratic republic in South America, bounded by Colombia on the north, by Peru on the east and south, and by the Pacific Ocean on the west. The country also includes the Galápagos Islands in the Pacific, about 965 kilometers west of the mainland. Ecuador is the Spanish word for equator. Ecuador straddles the equator and has an area of 256,370 square kilometers. Its capital city is Quito.
Retire to Ecuador
My daughter lives in Quito, the capital city where they speak very little English. That's OK because she is very fluent in Spanish and I am sure that's why the government hired her as an interpreter.
It is also one of the worlds cheapest places to live. Of course, just because it's cheap it doesn't mean it's ideal as a retirement or investment destination. However, the weather is beautiful and there is so much natural beauty. You are close to the world famous Galapagos Islands, a wonder in itself.
You can live a comfortable lifestyle cheaply. Also, you still also get all the amenities and comforts that we are accustomed to having such as cell phones and internet.
As a foreigner in Ecuador my daughter was welcomed and admired.
Consider what a wonderful place to retire. As a retiree in Ecuador, you'll be treated with respect, and the people will be eager to get to know you. What a perfect place to reconnect and live a good life.
