Hear the 1 minute show: With the return the Creationism to national politics brought by vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin, the atheists have already jumped into the fray. Less than a week after her nomination, Richard Dawkins, atheist superstar par excellence and one of creationism’s most vocal critics, distributed a video of Palin titled: "US VP Candidate Sarah Palin Exposes Herself as a Religious Nut". Palin gave a commencement address at her old church in Alaska whose pastor claims “that the 9/11 attacks and the invasion of Iraq were part of a 'world war' over the Christian faith, one in which Jesus Christ had called ... Forget lipstick, pigs, Bridges to Nowhere (there is actually more than one and she still supports the other), impregnated high school progeny, the non-aborted special need token being passed around at the RNC like a little Down Syndrome football. Forget the Bush Doctrine, the charging of rape victims for their rape kits, belief that such victims if they conceive should be forced to birth their assaulter’s genetic burden even if the author of the DNA is dear old Dad. Forget family values, abstinence only education, the slashing of funding for teenage mothers who are not her darling little Bristol Lynn Spears (I’m sure she ... Read Full Story

By David Talbot Read more: David Talbot , Alaska , Politics , News , Sarah Palin Sep. 16, 2008 | The Wasilla Assembly of God, the evangelical church where Sarah Palin came of age, was still charged with excitement on Sunday over Palin's sudden ascendance. On June 8, 2008 Palin was publicly blessed, with the "laying on of hands" before six thousand Wasilla area church members, by Head Wasilla Assembly of God Pastor Ed Kalnins and on the same day both Kalnins and Palin described, at a "Masters Commission" ceremony at the Wasilla Assembly of God church, how she had been blessed prior to winning the Alaska governorship by an African cleric known for driving the "spirit of witchcraft" out of a town in Kenya, after which town supposedly crime rates dropped "almost to zero." Sarah Palin's churches are actively involved in a resurgent movement that was declared heretical ... Read Full Story
