Pop star Ed Sheeran made a surprise appearance in Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones, portraying a Lannister solider. As Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) plods down the road on her horse, she runs into Sheeran and his band of merry lads singing a song from George R.R. Martin's source novel, A Song of Ice and Fire:

"He rode through the streets of the city / Down from his hill on high / O'er the winds and the steps and the cobbles / He rode to a woman's sigh / For she was his secret treasure / She was his shame and his bliss / And a chain and a keep are nothing / Compared to a woman's kiss / For hands of gold are always cold / But a woman's hands are warm."

"That’s a pretty song," Arya tells Sheeran's "Man #1."

"It's a new one," he responds.

They go on to invite the youngest Stark girl to dine on rabbit and blackberry wine, asking her why she's headed to King's Landing. She bluntly informs them she intends to kill Queen Cersei, they all have a laugh about this seemingly ridiculous statement, and continue to munch on their rabbit. Little do they know.

While it was a short scene, those familiar with Sheeran and Williams were delighted. Williams, a big fan of the "Shape of You" singer, helped to coordinate his appearance on the series.

The cameo has been rumored since March, though details on when and where Sheeran would show were scarce.

Chances that we'll see Sheeran again are slim, but I may be crazy, don't mind me.
