The Arizona Cardinals released running back Edgerrin James with one year remaining on his contract, a development expected since late in the season. The team also announced Tuesday that it released cornerback Rod Hood and defensive end Travis LaBoy. James had 794 carries for 2,895 yards and 16 touchdowns in his three seasons in Arizona. His resurgence during last season's playoffs gave Arizona the running game it needed. James was benched for seven games during the season but came back to have a solid performance in the playoffs. We’re down to two. Edgerrin James was shown the door yesterday, leaving the Seahawks with only Julius Jones and Justin Forsett as the only two running backs on the team’s 53-man roster. However, come season’s end, there could be additional shakeups. Julius Jones only has 346 yards and one touchdown on the ground this year. In the seven games the Seahawks played so far, he’s only eaten up over 60 yards on the ground twice, while managing just 34 rushing yards or less in four of the team’s games. The Edgerrin James era in Seattle is officially over. The Hawks today cut James, releasing him after he never made any type of impact on a team that really could have used a boost in the run game. The 31-year-old was inked by the Hawks late in August. James wasn’t the only one that was shown the door today, as the team also released safety C.J. Wallace and cornerback Travis Fisher.
