I'm a recent convert to The Sopranos and am now catching up slowly, watching it series by series on DVD. My Carmela impression is coming on a treat: "Toawnee! Wan' sum cworfee?" Anyway, I'm noticing some similarities between the family Soprano and Coronation Street. Jack Duckworth is Tony Soprano. The similarities between Tony's Freudian dreams about losing his ducks and Jack Duckworth's pigeon fetish has not gone unnoticed. Also, just like Tony, Jack has friends on the other side. You know, Blackpool. Liz McDonald is Carmela Soprano. She's a good wife when she needs to be but she's not averse to flirting with her ... Read Full Story

It was two years ago, almost to the day, that everything went black. You know: The finale of "The Sopranos," which ended with a blackout that seemed to last forever. It left the show's fans in the dark and drove them wild. It still does. But Edie Falco, having capped her stellar run as mobster wife Carmela Soprano, carried on with her life. Now she's got a new series, a new role, a new short haircut. (Carmela's big hair is history.) "Nurse Jackie" is a prickly comedy starring Falco as an ER nurse in a hectic New York hospital. The 12-episode series premieres on ... Read Full Story

“Life is full of little pricks”, don’t I know it Showtime is becoming the network to beat with hits like Californication, The Tudors, Dexter and Weeds. In fact, I saw Evan Handler (formerly of HBO’s Sex & the City, currently on Showtime’s Californication) say in an TV interview that HBOver is how he describes his former network, which has failed to bounce back with blockbuster TV series since the end of The Sopranos and Sex & the City. After a 2 year hiatus, Showtime lured Edie Falco back to the small screen to star in “Nurse Jackie,” a dark comedy series which premieres on ... Read Full Story

Award-winning actress Edie Falco, cable television's no-nonsense "Nurse Jackie," delivered a stern message to lawmakers Thursday: fix health care. "I'm here because I've traveled through the health care system and there are some holes," Falco, a breast cancer survivor, told a Capitol Hill rally for health care overhaul. "I'm here because I care about the people in this country and I know that we can do better, that we must do better." Falco, who stars in the Showtime series "Nurse Jackie, said she went without health care coverage for many years. Nearly 50 million Americans are without coverage and President Barack Obama's goal is ... Read Full Story

Howdy Sopranos fans. No, our very own Carmela Soprano hasn’t become a nurse in real life. It’s just her role in the show Nurse Jackie. She plays the lead role of Nurse Jackie in this show. This role is entirely different from her role as Mrs. Soprano where she was used to polished talons and shrapnel’s. This reveals her versatility; she can easily fit into any kind of role. This actress has kept the show going with her acting skills. Here she plays a confused and hardworking nurse. She doesn’t get tired after doing double shifts at the New York hospital. Her role is ...
