Stanford University gives the Middle Class some HOPE

I heard on the news today that Stanford University is holding out a helping hand by waiving tuition costs for students of families that make less than $100,000 per year.  How awesome is that?  Now, my son has his heart set on attending the University of Texas in Austin, as he is a huge Longhorn fan, and wants to attend a specific program offered there.  At this point, I'm thinking, "Hold up there son!"  I just may want to take a look at what Stanford can offer program-wise, as well as take a look at admission requirements.

Wouldn't it be awesome if more universities would make the same offer or even come close for middle class families?  I tell you, we have invested money for college since the kids were little, but it won't even come close to what the cost of tuition is these days.  Scholarship money on basis of need?  Forget the middle class on that.  Grant money?  Naw, we won't get that either. Private scholarships? That's a possibility, but you have to look at the specifications very carefully, and have about 20 of them to even touch the cost of education.  How about a student loan?  Yep, we will probably need to look at that, and then pay it back for years and years.

We have two more years of high school to get ready for college costs.

Send me your advice!!!
