JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak will fly to London Sunday for a meeting with U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell, an Israeli official said on Friday. The meeting between Barak and Mitchell, U.S. President Barack Obama's Middle East envoy, will be their second in a few days after they held meetings in New York in a bid to narrow the division with Washington over the settlement issue. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak refused on Wednesday to rule out a military strike on Iran, his comment came just hours after Israel's foreign minister said the Jewish state would not do so. US Defense Secretary Robert Gates met with Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak "for discussions on security issues of mutual concern," the Pentagon said. The Pentagon provided no details on the substance of the discussions which coincided with US President Barack Obama's address in Cairo seeking a better relationship with the Muslim world.
