Palestinians Face Humanitarian Crisis As They Celebrate Eid Al-Adha
Salwa Al-Masri (Back) the wife of Fifty-year-old unemployed Palestinian man Mouen Al-Masri (not seen) makes tea for her family as her child helps prepare a humble celebration, on the first day of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha on December 08, 2008 in the Rafah Refugee Camp, Gaza Strip. Abed couldn't buy a sheep to slaughter as a part of Eid Al-Adha celebration. Most of the sacrificial animals in Gaza have been smuggled through tunnels between Rafah and Egypt as Israel still blocks their crossings with Gaza Strip. Gordon Brown - Wanker (Sorry about terminology) A blog is nothing without people feeding information to it for it to be disseminated to a wider audience. Ancient Brit (sigh) as pointed us to this insult to the True Owners of Our Country in the unelected Browns, pathetic Christmas Greeting on the No 10 website. Best wishes to all of our users and visitors for a happy and peaceful Christmas. Thank you for following the Prime Minister’s activities throughout 2008. We look forward to seeing you again in the New Year. Now before I go off on one of my increasingly frequent rants about the ... Read Full Story

No suffering here Bit busy at the moment and had not intended to write anything today but if I am going to be angry, I am not going to be angry on my own. Once, like many others I used to be a big fan of the RSPCA but that changed years ago when I discovered how just politicized they had become and just how much money some of the directors were sucking out of a so called charity. And when you read this, I hope that those of you who do continue to donate to this pseudo charity, cancel your subscriptions and make ... Read Full Story

A primary school infuriated parents after cancelling the traditional Christmas nativity play to make way for the Muslim festival of Eid. Parents at the Nottingham school were told that the planned performance had to be pulled because some of the pupils wanted to celebrate Eid at home with their families. In a letter, sent by the staff at Greenwood Junior School, mothers and fathers were told: 'It is with much regret that we have had to cancel this year's Christmas performances. 'This is due to the Eid celebrations that take place next week and its effect on our performers.' However, following a barrage of ... Read Full Story

Today is Eid al Adha . This commemorates the time when God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son. It celebrates Abraham's willingness to obey, and his refusal to heed the devil's counsel that he defy God and spare the lad. As we know, Abraham was on the point of slaughtering Ishmael (or Isaac if you are a Christian) when God said 'hold it! As you were, now that I know you'd do it if I really wanted you to, here's a lamb you can sacrifice to me instead to remind me how great I am. Just keeping you on your toes, that's all'. Somehow, ... Eid Mubarak everyone! (Happy Eid) The Islamic month of Ramadan ended on Saturday evening. The new month in the Islamic calendar starts with the sighting of the new moon. I remember being a kid in Pakistan and climbing our rooftop to see if the new moon is out. If we didn't see it on the 29th day of Ramadan, we'd fast for another day and declare the first of Shawwal (the name of the next month) the day after. Kind of confusing at first, but its...
