Character building short stories for kids

Well it has been rightly said that the children of today are the future of tomorrow. So character building of kids should be done today so that there can a better society for everyone and everyone can live in this society safe guarding his values and ethics. Children like short stories right from the beginning of the time. I too remember asking my mother to read a story for me at bed time every day. The point is that these short stories have a very strong impact on the child and he... Read Full Story

Stuff-A-Roo & Teddy Too in Chester, New Jersey

My little girls are growing up…gone are the days when Maddie would cling to my leg and refuse to take part in birthday party activities at local Morris County, NJ venues, unless Mommy would go down the giant slide, hold onto the parachute, or cut up her pizza into little bite-sized pieces. Now that Maddie and London have reached the first and second grades at Mendham Township Elementary School, the birthday parties are fewer and farther between than the good old days at Westmont Montessori... No Answers on Principal Michael Craver’s Resignation from Mendham Township Elementary School, but a Few Sad Thoughts After Roxy’s Parent-Teacher Conferences

Rex and I were over at Mendham Township Elementary School this afternoon for our parent-teacher conferences about London and Maddie’s progress….the part of the conference that focused on my girls was excellent.  Rex and I feel confident that both London and Maddie have the best teachers MTES has to offer; our girls excel at reading, writing and ‘rithmetic; and the only minor negative for both of them is that they’ve turned out to be quite social chatterboxes this school year. I know, I know... Read Full Story

My, What a Distinguished School You Are

Way, way, way long ago, all the way back in November, I mentioned helping do a major project for the kids' school. [If you're truly bored, you can read about it here . The project itself, though, isn't material to this post, so save yourself some time and skip the past post. Or read it. Either way, I'll be here.] I worked a lot, a lot, a lot of hours on the application for a Distinguished School Award. The principal and I, dude, we bonded. [Hell, I've already let her hug me like three times... Read Full Story

Anything to get kids reading - I'm happy for Captain Underpants!

I find humor a great conjoiner of people and experiences. I'm okay with it being potty humor, if it's toward a greater end. Mastering the skill of reading qualifies! I am going to wander into my kid's room and sit a while with Captain Underpants, while I should be tidying ... ©reated by Ribonuff on December 5, 2007. Read Full Story

Grade school is on lockdown.

Our elementary school is on permanant lockdown. Since you know the elementary kids here are so violent....just coming to school and blowing eachother away. If you ask me, our highschool should be the one on lockdown, but whatever, the school board has no common sense. Read Full Story

Feels Like Kids’ Birthday Party Season Is In Full Swing in Morris and Somerset Counties, New Jersey

When London and Maddie were in pre-school at Westmont Montessori in Mendham, NJ , and the birthday tradition was to invite the entire class, it felt like we were out at Toys With Love in Chester, NJ buying presents every week, and attending one or two kiddie birthday parties every weekend, particularly in the late fall and winter seasons.  It was actually a great way to get to know our children’s friends, as well as a great bunch of parents….many of our “Westmont friendships” have lasted...
