Should the Yankees take a look at Elijah Dukes?

By Greg C. on  From slidingintohome.blogspot.com
Elijah Dukes was released by the Nationals yesterday , a surprise to many. So naturally, many wondered whether the Yankees should take a look at him. Dukes, still just 25-year-old, is a great athlete with loads of potential. He can hit for power, has shown the ability to be patient at the plate (.386 OBP in '08). and can also play all three outfield positions. He showed some of that potential in 2008, when he hit .264/.386/.478 with an OPS+ of 127. He is coming off a down year in 2009...Read Full Story

Former Washington National Elijah Dukes Got High Before Games

By djashyfingerz on  From kushandoj.com
By Shot | February 12, 2011 As if you couldn’t tell from the picture above, the homie Elijah Dukes used to get his head right before hitting the field. He blames it on “peer pressure” (GTFOH) and says that players used to smuggle piff and coke on chartered flights. “Sometimes I smoked before the home games or whatever, but only in the big leagues,” he says. “I was just going along with the motions, started being myself. I was going along with it. Peer pressure. You are looking up to...Read Full Story

Elijah Dukes: Have You Picked This Guy Up Yet?

By Forrest Kobayashi on  From fantasybaseballflash.com
With Lastings Milledge getting demoted to the minors , Elijah Dukes has become the top center fielder for the Washington Nationals. The question now becomes…should you go out and roster him? My answer…ABSOLUTELY!  You have to get this guy on your reserve list or on your bench, even if you are in a standard mixed 5×5 league.  What can he bring to your team? Dukes has legitimate power and speed, and it could turn into a lethal combination depending on where he is batting in the lineup...Read Full Story

Elijah Dukes "Charity" Case

By Kurt Schonhardt on  From sftsports.com
I for one was feeling sorry for Elijah Dukes on Monday when I learned that he got fined and benched after arriving late from a charity function.  His manager, Manny Acta, must be a real hard-ass I thought.  Give the kid a break.  Then I read this story and not only do I no longer feel sorry for Dukes, I'm kind of hacked off at him. Elijah Dukes (no relation to Daisy)   You see, if you read down past the nonsense about the Little League paying the fine for Dukes (can he not afford it...Read Full Story

The Question of whether to chase Elijah Dukes has a simple answer

By ITISHIGHITISFAR on  From johnsterling.blogspot.com
It is the answer to every Yankee question. It has been this way since 2004, though it has diminished somewhat since last October. Should we sign Elijah Dukes, the emotionally-challenged outfielder who yesterday received his walking papers from the Quadruple A Washington Nationals? No. Unless Boston is about to sign him. Then, yes. Shell out the money. Whatever it takes. Next question?Read Full Story

Elijah Dukes benched…

By Acadia Einstein on  From superficialgallery.com
20 Apr Yeah, I'll sign that for ya, kid, I ain't even bullshittin'. The headline of Elijah Dukes being benched doesn’t surprise anyone. He has been arrested something like a dozen times in the past 10 years. He sent a text message to one of his baby mama’s that was simply a picture of a handgun. He left messages to her calling her “dawg” a handful of times and to make sure her motherfucking ass was not riding, because shit was “on”. On being dead. Apparently. Allegedly...Read Full Story

2009 Preview: Wasington Nationals

By BaseballStalker on  From baseballstalker.blogspot.com
Coming into 2008, everyone expected the Nationals to be pretty bad...and they were as they finished the season with the worst record in MLB at 59-102. Injuries to Ryan Zimmerman, Elijah Dukes, and Lastings Milledge forced the Nats to use fringe players for a large amount of the season. A few weeks ago, word broke out about a scandel involving GM Jim Bowden and illegally signing Dominican prospects. On the bright side, Christian Guzman finally showed what he can do when he's healthy. Projected...Read Full Story

Thoughts About the Washington “Misfits”

By msilva177 on  From nybaseballdigest.com
I felt compelled after watching the last two games against Washington to write a short commentary about the Washington Nationals. As I mentioned last week, The Nats will play a huge role in determining who will win the NL East. To their credit, they are playing hard and to win for the second September in a row. My question is where was the passion from April to August? On that point, Keith Hernandez called Washington a “misbehaving team” that’s kind and, in the spirit of politeness and...Read Full Story

MLB trouble boy: Elijah Dukes

By DanLane on  From priceperheadcallcenterservice.wordpress.com
Elijah Dukes is not just known for his ability to hit home runs , but for fans of the Nationals , Dukes is also known for his bad behaviour outside the home plate. Dukes is one of the main players for the Nationals , baseball critics are putting him among the future promises at the MLB , though, his bipolar mentality is what has kept him out of good deals, with only Washington showing an interest on him when he left the the Tampa Bay Ray s . Elijah has faced justice 6 times since 1998...Read Full Story

The Elijah Dukes Enigma

By anniematter11 on  From how-to-play-games.com
Elijah Dukes might be crazy. He’s been arrested at least three times for battery and once for assault, he’s fathered five children with four different women, he allegedly threatened to kill his wife and a 17 year old girl says he impregnated her. When Dukes was traded to the Nationals the team also hired an ex-police officer in the role of “Special Assistant: Player Concerns”. This person accompanies Dukes everywhere to ensure that he keeps himself free of trouble. So why on earth does DukesRead Full Story
