Elton John's Piano Red Hot After 200
Sir Elton John's "The Red Piano" debuted at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in February 2004. Now the bewigged and bespectacled genius rock icon has given his 200th performance, and after returning to Las Vegas later in the year plans to bring the Red Piano to England, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and France. The airport security line must be brutal, but the tour sounds fun all the same. [Source]
Elton John - Candle In the Wind (Red Piano)
On Saturday, June 21, Elton and the band will once again take to the stage at The Colosseum, Caesars Palace, to perform the thrilling, exciting Red Piano show. And this particular performance will be even more special for the Vegas audience, as it will be The Red Piano's bicentenary - the 200th performance since the show debuted there four years ago.
Gary Selesner, president of Caesars Palace, said today:
"People from
virtually every major country have traveled to Caesars to see Elton John's The
Red Piano, and long after the standing ovations have ended, they leave us with
treasured memories of one of the great performer/songwriters of this or any era.
We are deeply grateful to Elton and his talented band for giving so much joy to
hundreds of thousands of Caesars Palace guests."
Back in February 2004, when the show began, critics and audiences were in
agreement that it was a very special show indeed:
"A must see." "A
Triumphant step forward." (Los Angeles Times)
"Eye-popping,
jaw-dropping...Elton John is Still Standing as one of pop's indestructible
talents." (USA Today)
"Most exciting show in Las Vegas 2004" (Las
Vegas Review-Journal)
"Elton John remains one of the world's genuine
superstars" (London Telegraph)
During 2008 The Red Piano will return to Caesars Palace for additional engagements, first on July 23 and then again on October 22. Then later this year fans in Europe will also have the opportunity to experience The Red Piano when the entire production crosses the Atlantic for a series of performances in Britain and mainland Europe.
