A new, multi-billion, international cooperative effort to make real progress in the quest to produce energy from fusion (rather than fission, which form of energy production employed by current nuclear reactors and which produces radioactive waste), is under way and it is dubbed ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor). There are some professions that either attract or produce a disproportionate number of humor challenged practitioners, I would include scientists and environmentalists at the top of that group. Consider how Al Gore-during-while Vice President of Clinton Administration-responded to a question about how he could be distinguished from his Secret Service detail,  he said "I'm the stiff one".
