St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church parishoners and school students donated more than 2600 pounds of food and non-perishable items to Upper Des Moines Opportunity.
A group of employees, volunteers and nine sixth grade students, from St. Thomas, delivered five carloads worth of items on Wednesday afternoon.
"It is overwhelming," UDMO Director Justin Jones said of all of the holiday donation.

After nearly 11 hours of traveling, the San Diego State women's basketball team arrived late Tuesday night in St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Day one highlights of the trip included a catamaran trip for snorkeling, followed by a two-hour practice and gondola ride to dinner.
