A pedestrian who was crossing the street to aid a stranded motorist was struck and killed by a passing car Saturday morning, sheriff's officials said. The 48-year-old Encinitas man was walking across Encinitas Boulevard near Oakcrest Park about 8 a.m. when he was hit by an eastbound blue Chevrolet Caprice, said Deputy Steven Magwood.
