A community portal about England with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: England is a country in northwest Europe, and the largest and most populous constituent country of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Its inhabitants account for more than 83% of the total population of the United Kingdom, whilst the mainland territory of England occupies most of the southern two-thirds of the island of Great Britain and shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. Elsewhere, it is bordered by the North Sea, Irish Sea, Atlantic Ocean, and English Channel.

A woman walks under an electronic hoarding advertising the new Westfields shopping mall on October 24, 2008 in London. (Photo by Lionel Healing/Getty Images Europe) The new Westfields shopping mall is scheduled to open its doors to customers at the end of October. Those doors contain within them more than 265 shops over an area of 1.6 million square feet, impressive numbers that would make the establishment the largest shopping mall in Europe. Seems strange that this event coincides with other big news in England today - that is, official figures have just revealed that England is halfway towards a recession, as the Telegraph ... UPDATE: WE LOST OUT! Camberwell Green London UK London Borough of Southwark Click or copy/paste link to vote CAMBERWELL GREEN for Mayoral Makeover: http://www.london.gov.uk/parksvote/region/southeast/camberwellgreen.jsp       I suggest we vote Camberwell Green as deserving (from list of other eligible London sites) for the Mayoral grant which will provide a much needed makeover. This spot is presently very drab and attracts too many undesirables. Camberwell Green is placed at a hugely significant junction where it is readily viewed from public transport, by commuters, shoppers and casual passers-by as well as by foreign coach trippers passing through from the continent on their way to London ’s famous central attractions. By Andy Bannister 09.11.2007 Early 1980s Reliant Rialto at a recent classic car show Any visitors to Britain who take to the highways of this sceptred isle invariably comment on our national penchant for roundabouts as well as that funny habit of driving on the left with a steering wheel on the right. A foreign friend of mine used to laugh out loud at the sight of another staple of British roads, the three-wheeled Reliant car, and on a recent trip was saddened to see this symbol of eccentricity rapidly disappearing from the national car pool. Reliant, of Tamworth in Staffordshire, sold surprisingly large ... Read Full Story

The Royal Ascot brings out some very trendy and bizarre hats. I decided to post a few pics of the hats I liked the best and the least. Princess Beatrice sports a hat designed by Phillip Treacy. Simple and Sophisticated - I like it. This butterfly headdress is light and whimsical. Coordinate it with a yellow and black outfit and it’s like being a bee in a garden. Cute. The perfect top for a drama queen. I think I like the feathered and frilly hats a bit better. This guest brings the flamenco with this red hat. I’m still on the fence whether I ... Read Full Story

What is it like to be a visitor to London? Having lived there during the swinging 60's, and living close by as I do now , I know it very well. But I thought it would be fun to do the tourist thing for a day! So, I set off down the road to my local train station, and 75 minutes later I was in Charing Cross - bang in the middle of London Town! I was instantly aware of strange languages and different accents all around me. As if people from all four corners of the world had been picked up and plonked ... Read Full Story
