Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship

To start or not to start. All of us have ideas, what is required is the help to validate and create a structure around the ideas. This portal should be a place to create a community around every aspect of entrepreneurship.

Why Defensive Entrepreneurship?

Because we live in a different world.  Job security is an illusion-- it is a thing of the past.  I have heard projected statistics citing the average American worker will hold eight or more jobs in their lifetimes-- some voluntary changes, some not so voluntary.  Many people have held multiple jobs before their 30th birthday.  Furthermore, the idea that a secure job is the safe way to go is a myth.

I have three key reasons in support of Defensive Entrepreneurship:

  • Job security (or lack of it)-- In fact, having your income come from just one source is risky, and even dangerous . . . a layoff can prove that.  This is a core reason for defensive entrepreneurship
  • Job fulfillment-- Some jobs aren't fulfilling.  Defensive entrepreneurship can fill the void by allowing you to do something you really want to do-- pursue a passion in your spare time by moonlighting
  • Be your own boss-- You are on your own.  The successes are yours, as are the failures.  You can choose the direction of the business, including how big or small it is.  Freedom and independence are within reach especially if you can build a business that provides passive income for you by creating income producing assets (more on that in a future post)

I am sure there other reasons that one could come up with, but these three reasons are usually enough to motivate most people.

Defensive entrepreneurship allows you to prepare and build a business that suits your needs and your family's needs.
