Estelle was actually a year younger than her co-stars Betty White and Bea Arthur, who played her daughter. Look at that hot mama! Oh, I am just heartbroken right now! Estelle Getty (aka: Sophia Petrillo) of my all time favorite show, Golden Girls passed away at 5:35 this morning in her Los Angeles home. She was 84 years old and had been suffering from Lewy Body Dementia for years so I'm not completely shocked. Her husband of almost 60 years died back in 2004, so now at least they will be reunited. Sigh....I mean, I knew she was gonna die at some point but it hurts my heart to say goodbye to Estelle Getty also known (and loved by us all) as Sophia Petrillo who died this morning. Estelle was nominated 7 times for an Emmy and won in 1988 for her supporting actress role on one of my all time favorite shows, The Golden Girls .
