Oh, I am just heartbroken right now! Estelle Getty (aka: Sophia Petrillo) of my all time favorite show, Golden Girls passed away at 5:35 this morning in her Los Angeles home. She was 84 years old and had been suffering from Lewy Body Dementia for years so I'm not completely shocked. Her husband of almost 60 years died back in 2004, so now at least they will be reunited. It is hard to get rid of that lump in my throat and the tears that seem to well up in my eyes every time I think that Estelle Getty has passed away. I never knew her personally.   She was simply the oldest of the Golden Girls on TV.   She was crotchety and mischievous Sophia Petrillo , mother of Dorothy Zbormak ( Bea Arthur).     The biting humor between her and Dorothy was wonderfully played out.
