Sedu Beauty Tips: Get Sexy, Shiny, Straight Hair Fast

Sikly Straight Sedu StyleIf you have wavy or curly hair that’s moderately to very coarse, you’ve probably already heard of Sedu. But if not, here’s the scoop: Sedu is a brand of ceramic flat irons that has become synonymous with straight hair styles, known as “The Sedu Hairstyle”. These flat irons are life-savers for ladies with course, wavy, or curly hair who want to get the super-straight, silky styles that are so popular on starts like Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez. I’ll share some Sedu beauty tips that work for my very thick, curly hair, and talk a little about the straighteners themselves.

Sedu Hair Straighteners

They’re very likely the most popular brand of ceramic flat irons on the market, and according the company’s press release, it’s because of the patented ultra-smooth true ceramic/tourmaline plates. Available in 1-inch to 1.5-inch widths, the plates guarantee a smooth straightening motion without pulling, snagging or breaking your hair. It also claims that its ionic functioncuts cut straightening time in half–a huge plus for those of us with very thick, long hair.

Sedu Beauty Tips

To get the most from your flat iron–whether you go Sedu or something else–it’s important to prepare your hair properly before straightening to maximize smoothness and protect your strands from damage.

  1. Shampoo and condition your hair with an intensive moisturizing products. I use Neutrogena Triple Moisture products, which you can find at any drug store.
  2. Apply a moisturizing straightening treatment and comb it through your tresses. If you have very course hair, try a heavy-duty straightening lotion such as Kerastase Soleil Huile Genereuse. For a lighter treatment, I like Bumble + Bumble Straight. Plug in your straightening iron now so you give it plenty of time to get hot.
  3. Blow dry your hair on medium or low temperature, using a large round brush to pull hair tight as you dry it. This will help release some curl before you use the flat iron.
  4. Once you’re completely dry, it’s time to flat iron. Work in small 1-inch sections of hair, moving around your head until you’ve straighened every strand. Remember to pull the flat iron down each section of hair at a moderate pace–don’t go too slowly and don’t let it rest on your hair, because you can scorch it.
  5. As you straighten, you might think about clipping already straightened layers on the top of your head so you can easily access layers underneath.
  6. Once you’re finished straightening, style and spray with a light hairspray to hold everything in place. Try not to touch your hair too frequently–the oils from your hands can make hair frizz.
