Home Renovation Tip - En Suite Bathroom Vanity, Mirrors and Lights
Still haven't heard back from the big box store on our front door status, so today we will start a multi-part look at the new en suite.
Today's home renovation tip is the first of a multi-part series on our new ensuite. The photo below is of the new vanity, mirrors and vanity lights, each of which was purchased from separate suppliers proving, hopefully that yes you can coordinate components of a bathroom from more than one supplier. It takes much more time, but in the end you have to be happy with it as you are not likely to change such components of a bathroom for a very, very long time.
The double sink vanity we purchased from a big box grocery store, if you can believe it. We knew we needed such a thing and saw that they had a sale on it, albeit a few months before we needed it. We both went to look at it and we agreed that it would work for us visually and measurement wise. It had to fit between the wall on the right and shower on the left (again, planning comes into play). The top is granite with under mount sinks.

The taps we purchased from the specialty store where we went looking for the automatic faucet needed for the other en suite (see previous post). They match the faucet within the tub (again, planning) which can be seen somewhat in the mirror on the left (we will post about the tub tomorrow or on Saturday).
We really like the matching his / hers mirrors. They were purchased from of all places the local specialty lighting store. In the mirror on the left (his) you can see out the window to the forest in the back. In the mirror on the right (hers) you can see the back of the en suite door with a robe hanging from the door hook.
The vanity lights are an interesting story. We did not think about what type of vanity lights we wanted, so the contractor only installed a single outlet on the wall. Had we thought about it we would have preferred two outlets on the wall, one for a vanity light for him and a matching one for her. But we are joined in marriage, ha, so a single light has to do.
We also wanted the single light to fit across the entire width of the vanity. We couldn't find one. We looked a lot. So we brought home one that was on the wall of the speciality lighting store. It was the longest one they had. To our surprise (since we didn't bring the measurements of the width of the sinks within the vanity), the length of the vanity light did go across both sinks and came within an inch of the width of the mirrors. So we went back and purchased that vanity light model.
Finally, you can see to the extreme left the shower enclosure. But, alas no picture because we are still waiting for the glass wall. They say it should be in today or tomorrow (as they say they spoke with the manufacturer) and may be able to install it early next week.
