Brits Abroad in Thailand feature quite prominently in a report just issued by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). The annual report entitled "FCO British Behaviour Abroad Report," features the top 20 tourist and expat destinations in the world where UK nationals sought help from consular staff. Thailand had 812,000 visitors and 41,000 expats from the UK during the period April 2008 to March 2009. Consular staff in Thailand had to assist the second highest number of people arrested abroad, and the highest number of people being hospitalised or dying abroad. So why is it that so many Brits have problems in Thailand? ... Read Full Story

You might not believe this but I am really an accidental expat. So today I thought I would fill in a few blanks about my transition from a college lecturer in Middle England to a retired expat living in Thailand. When I first settled here I did a fair bit of physical work outside getting the ... Read Full Story

(Archived in: Economic Citizenship Foreign Investment Related Miscellany ) I came across this item on my research of St. Kitts & Nevis. Grenada is no longer an option for a second passport through an Economic Citizenship Program . Grenada terminated its Economic Citizenship program as of October 24, 2001. This was probably one of the more lenient programs with respect to the relatively low investment involved and the relaxed residency requirements . In fact there were no residency requirements . I know one immigration expert from Canada that was a consultant to the government of Grenada on the formation of this program, but was ... Read Full Story

Of the new features in Windows 7 it's probably among those that has received the least amount of coverage, but for expatriate PC users the ability to switch the language of the operating system represents a major step forward for Windows.

When he performs a recital Tuesday night at Jacksonville's downtown library, classical pianist Abbas Abboud will be playing several compositions by Frederic Chopin, among other selections. Chopin's music has special resonance for Abboud. He identifies with Chopin's life as an exile. Born in Poland in 1810, Chopin spent his adult life in France, an expatriate unwilling to return to a Poland that had been partitioned by European powers. The 23...

The path Patriots rookie offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer took to reach the National Football League was not one of the more conventional routes. It could be traced to his hometown of Kaarst, Germany, where the playgrounds weren’t exactly teeming with college-caliber - let alone NFL-caliber - prospects.
