According to Wikipedia.org: The Extensible Markup Language is a W3C -recommended general-purpose markup language that supports a wide variety of applications. XML languages or'dialects' are easy to design and to process. XML is also designed to be reasonably human-legible, and to this end, terseness was not considered essential in its structure. XML is a simplified subset of Standard Generalized Markup Language. Its primary purpose is to facilitate the sharing of data across different information systems, particularly systems connected via the Internet . Formally defined languages based on XML allow diverse software reliably to understand information formatted and passed in these languages.

Web Design: A Combination of Technology and Creativity

Web design is systematic process of displaying electronic media content in the form of web-pages over the internet by using markup language. This systematic process includes specific concepts, planning, modeling and the most important thing, a creative mind of a Web designer. The skills and the creativity of the designer play a vital role in the success of a website.

A group of interrelated web-pages (electronic pages/files stored on a web server) thus created together makes a website. A good web design always helps to increase the visitor traffic to the website, technically called as hits.

Markup languages are those languages that browsers like IE, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Navigator, etc can understand. These markup languages play a very important role in displaying the information in a very attractive manner with an easy to use interface for the viewer which is called as GUI (Graphical User Interface).

The most popular markup language is HTML (HyperText Markup Language). Today there are number of markup languages like XHTML (Extensible HyperText Markup Language), DHTML (Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language) and XML (Extensible Markup Language). And the other web-designing tools, methods are CSS (Cascading Style Sheet), Microsoft FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Flash, etc.

A good web design helps to increase one’s website traffic and reach wide range of target audience which is one of basic aim of any website existence.
