Finding Fast, Easy Diets That Work
by Carter James
Finding fast, easy diets that work is easier than ever before.
I know what you are thinking...that is crazy! After all; we have heard all of our lives how hard it is to lose weight.
Losing weight can be hard; but it doesn't have to be; when you understand the body's natural reaction to dieting.
Our bodies react to their environments; apart from what our brains tell our bodies. If you have ever stood outside on a cold day and found your teeth chattering hard; then you know what I'm talking about. Your body realizes that it is freezing and it causes you to shiver and your teeth to chatter in order to generate heat; in order to protect itself.
The same thing happens when you diet. Your body recognizes that it is not getting the amount of food and calories that it expects; so it protects itself from starving; by slowing the metabolism; by conserving calories. The act of eating fewer calories causes the body to burn fewer calories.
So; that sounds like quite a problem. How can we lose weight when our bodies are programmed to keep us from losing weight?
We use a concept known as "calorie shifting. Calorie shifting is designed to keep our bodies content with their environment. In other words; our bodies don't realize that we are dieting and consequently our metabolisms will remain at near their peak performance. We need to feed our bodies four times per day; but the key is to feed it the right kind of calories at the right times.
More on that later.
Other things that we need to do to facilitate weight loss on any diet are: 1) Always eat breakfast. That "fires up" the metabolism at the start of the day. 2) Drink plenty of water. That helps to flush the body. If you drink cold water; your body will burn calories to warm it up. 3) Try to move more. Walking is better than running for losing weight. Running puts too much stress on the nervous system. 4) Eat a few "negative calorie" foods daily. Those are foods that burn more calories through digestion than they contain.
Finding fast, easy diets that work; those that employ the concept of calorie shifting; is easier today than it has ever been. As we learn more about how our bodies react to their environment; we will be better able to control those reactions.
Diets based upon calorie shifting offer certain advantages beyond quicker weight loss: 1) You eat more often rather than less. 2) Foods that you love are not "off limits"; just more controlled. 3) You never have to feel hungry or unsatisfied. 4) Most people find them more effective and easier to stick with than diets that require calorie counting or monitoring carbs.
The truth is that calorie counting diets are almost doomed from the start; unless you have unshakeable will power and you never have to "grab lunch on the run". No-carb diets just don't make sense to me because it just can not be healthy to try to eliminate practically a whole food group from our diets.
To lose weight and maintain good health; we must eat often and eat well. Different things work for different people. If you have tried calorie counting or carb reduction; and you are not happy with the results; perhaps you should try calorie shifting.
