Did you ever notice that there are certain Pharisees that dismiss the word of God, often wresting or twisting it to their own destruction? For instance how could anyone with common sense misinterpret the following verses? Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Galatians 3:26-27 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth ... Read Full Story

Today we have three ways of being saved according to the church world. The first way is from the oldest group. They say one first must receive baptism as an infant in their church. It is a sacrament ("A visible sign of an invisible reality," or vehicle of grace.) according to them that brings children into a new spiritual birth by sprinkling called baptism. Does this line up with the word of God? Supposedly a tasteful magazine of sophisticated humor, the New Yorker has taken the creative art form of cartooning to a new level. At first glance, the July 21 issue cover featuring the Obamas in a fist bump was so hilarious, that I almost missed the point. When I came to my senses a few moments later, I nearly wept. The New Yorker’s quite defensively stated purpose for the cover is to expose the absurdity of wrong-headed attitudes towards the Obamas. Regrettably, Barry Blitt’s artistry itself reinforces the very attitudes of those who fear, distrust, or have enmity for the Obamas . . . all ... Read Full Story

I was talking to someone on the phone the other day about my experience with the legislative process in Maryland and he commented that it sounded like I had been involved in this kind of thing for quite some time.  I started to tell him that I had been working with legislators and other public servants since 2005, but then I began to get a little nostalgic about my life, and realized that I actually had been involved like this for nearly thirty years. You are currently looking at a photo of me at age 15.  It was in a newspaper article written by ... Read Full Story

In Luke 24:47 Jesus said that "repentance and remission of sins would be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem". Verse 49 states that his witnesses or disciples, were to wait there at Jerusalem until they were "endued from power on high". Remission is defined as: 1) release from bondage or imprisonment 2) forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty. We read in Acts chapter 2. Being assembled in one accord at Jerusalem were the 120 believers in Jesus Christ. They all received the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of ... Read Full Story
