Nanny Poachers
There are beasts known as "Nanny Poachers" in my very own neighborhood. Nanny Poachers are men and women who prey upon other families' childcare givers. They are as ruthless as elephant poachers vying for precious ivory tusks.
Nanny Poachers observe with watchful eyes before making their move on the most caring, playful, interactive nanny. You can find them hanging out in public parks, playgrounds or just strolling through the neighborhood. It appears they're spending time with their children, but really they're spending time to find you.
Our nanny is very good with our toddler. She enjoys taking her to the playground and interacting with her. She's obviously not our baby's mother so onlookers know she's either the grandma or the nanny. They bet on the nanny card since she's at the park every day and bears no family resemblance. Yesterday, Nanny Maria said people always want to see Ainsley's eyes. Since her baby blues aren't dark brown like Maria's, well, she figures they know she's not the grandma.
Nanny Poachers are schemers, just like wild animals in search of prey. They watch. They listen. They move closer. They make small talk. They make offers. They plead. They beg. They hand out phone numbers "just in case." They up the ante.
We paid good money to find our nanny through a nanny recruiter. I suggest you do the same. However, our nanny is available. Hire her. But beware of the Nanny Poachers. They look just like you.
