Mountain Getaway

The trip to the mountains was a great family getaway. What a beautiful drive to a beautiful little town! The newly built cabin was very spacious and decorated with rustic furnishings as one might expect. We had all the comforts of home, except the cabin wasn't baby proof.
It's difficult to relax at home with a toddler, and even more so in someone else's home. We spent most of our time chasing Ainsley, making sure she didn't destroy the family's belongings or do anything that would warrant a trip to the emergency room. Dear Darling blocked the staircase leading to the basement with a table. The stairs leading to the second level was a constant draw for Ainsley. Walking up the stairs, parent in tow, made her so proud but her parents so tired. When exhaustion set in, Ainsley found herself in the Pack 'n Play.
We spent the days strolling around the town, visiting shops and sitting on benches by the lake. As usual, Ainsley loved being out and about. She likes action and attention. Fortunately, she got plenty of both and would fall asleep in the car on the way back to the cabin. It was a good opportunity for Dear Darling and I to enjoy some beautiful drives. We scoped out a couple of lakes, watched a large herd of elk lounging in a valley and enjoyed the peaceful sounds of nature.
The trip was very enjoyable and there were no trips to the emergency room. Before we left, Dear Darling located the nearest ER to the cabin. It's a 24 hour clinic and there are no hospitals in the area. He wanted a plan should I go into labor. He even called them ahead of time to ask if they deliver babies and they said "We prefer not to!" We passed the clinic on the way to the cabin and noticed it was attached to a veterinary office. I assured Dear Darling that one of them could deliver our baby. Afterall, four-legged babies aren't that different from two-legged babies.
Thanks Jeff for loaning us your incredible cabin. We enjoyed our stay and the local hospitality. We didn't see moose, but won't hold that against you. Maybe next time!
