I’m writing this on the plane at 30,000 feet, Friday afternoon returning from a week-long business trip to Fort Lauderdale. Four days of a beautiful hotel, 85 degree weather, three pools, right on the ocean. None of which I got to enjoy as I was in meetings all day. Four days is a long time to be away from the family, for me at least. I know some guys have to travel overnight several times a week, and I guess you get used to it, but I decidedly don’t like it. I get tired of the late nights... Read Full Story

As if we need one more thing to incur mom guilt.
Ronda Kaysen : Here are my three confessions of the day: One, I talk on the cell phone while pushing my child around in the stroller. Two, I still use a stroller even though my 2-year-old can walk. And three, he sometimes watches Dora the Explorer so... Read Full Story

"Wild Things" is perhaps the most unusual and most visceral depiction of our emotional journey that has ever made it to the screen. We all walk with wild things inside of us. And we flirt with the fear that they have the power to consume us. Psychologists sometimes say that we all have a psychotic core, a deep internal state of madness that most of us learn to tame. It is only a tiny percentage of humans who are overtly psychotic -- however, psychotic feelings are pieces of many emotional... Read Full Story
Let's take a look at Baby Developmental Toys and the benefits of them.
Infants and babies simply like to play. For the time being, that is what they need to do. Because play is such a big part in their lives, they need toys that enhance their growth and improve their language.
Children learn best through play. They don't realize that they are enhancing their motor, logic, language, and reasoning skills while they are having fun.
Years back, the only way to help younger children learn is to... Read Full Story
It's a fact of life that when kids are young, they yearn to be big... but that adults would gladly trade their responsibilities for the idyll of childhood. The sweet comedy at the heart of Big gets right to the core of this truism, and Tom Hanks captures this capricious mood perfectly as 13 year-old Josh, who wakes up one morning in the body of a 35 year-old toy company executive. Elizabeth Perkins plays a co-worker that falls in love with his youthful energy (who can forget the scene at the... Read Full Story
Dr. Wendy Walsh : It is parts visual appeal, pheromone compatibility, intellectual decision, and environmental conditions. Those factors notwithstanding, I believe love is even more about our internal attachment style. Much has been written in the mass media about "Attachment Theory" in parenting manuals. Psychologists have been quick to warn parents about the dangers of child/parent separation and its relation to major personality disorders, but less has been written in terms of adult... Tammy Munson: November 5th, 2009 will be one of those days that I never will forget where I was or what I was doing. In ways, it reminded me a lot of my thoughts and fears of September 11, 2001. It brought back images of desperately searching for information, hoping it wasn't what you thought it was, and praying for those families affected. Read Full Story
A friend called last night to talk about her son. A daycare classmate's mother died unexpectedly this week, just days after a cancer diagnosis, and she knew her son would hear about it. What, she wondered, should she tell her own three and a half year old when he asked what that meant? This is an understandably difficult situation. First of all, talking to children about traumatic events is always hard. Our first inclination is to protect them. We are afraid of scaring them, and we think if... Read Full Story
