I'm Pissed! My Friend "Abducted" My Kid!

From:  momlogic.com
Lisa from Atlanta writes: Dear Friendship Court: My friend April is the consummate practical joker. She never stops. In fact, every time I get a phone call from someone I do not know, I assume it is her pulling a prank on me. Generally, I laugh at her antics ... but the last practical joke was out of line, and I do not plan on ever speaking to April again. My 9-year-old son, Jake, was outside on our driveway shooting baskets. We live in a suburban neighborhood, and though I am neurotic... Read Full Story

The result of using a bathroom joke is typically a cheap laugh and an even cheaper feeling. The reason for the failure of bathroom humor, in adult audiences, is that it's too basic. It's comedy used in playgrounds across the country, to get elementary school children to giggle. Personally, I think I stopped laughing at... Read Full Story

"Groundhog Day" on an endless loop.  Every day, my daughter wants to play school. Every day. Over and over again. The game always starts the same: Lily: Mommy, you be the teacher and pretend it's nap time . Me... Read Full Story

Explaining Violence to Kids

From:  momlogic.com
Dr. Michelle Golland : As hard as it may seem to turn something as horrific as the tragic shooting at Fort Hood into a teachable moment with our kids, it can be done. And it should be done: we can't assume that kids won't hear about these events simply because we monitor their viewing of the television in our own homes. Our kids also live in a world where their friends may be discussing these events on the school yard, or they may hear it or see it at one of their peers' homes. That is why... Read Full Story
