Fantasy Sports are games where fantasy owners build teams that compete against other fantasy owners based on the statistics of players of a professional sport. Each formed league will have a point system to compile these stats and give each fantasy team a score. Most leagues have head to head match ups each week, and have a playoff system to determine a winner. It is estimated that over 35 million people have played fantasy sports at one time. Most who engage in this hobby will be hooked for life.

Fantasy Football is the most common type of Fantasy sport played, with Fantasy baseball and basketball gaining popularity as well. Leagues can be formed through Yahoo!, ESPN and CBS Sportsline.

We're changing things up this year and having a separate, reverse-order draft for entire pitching staffs, so it will be interesting to see how that unfolds. As you can imagine, with only 10 teams in the league, everyone has a "good" team on paper. This league rewards batters heavily with very negative points (only strikeouts), whereas ... Read Full Story

The Washington Nationals host the Atlanta Braves to kick off the 2008 Major League Baseball season, but the thing that I'm most excited about is the start of Fantasy Baseball. This is my 16th year playing Fantasy sports, and I'm pretty optimistic about my chances to win it all this year! Thanks to all of the fellow dads out there who helped me pick my Keepers , as well as the input for my #3 overall pick . My first pick in the draft, by the way, was the Chicago Cubs pitching staff, as the shift to team pitching made this the most valuable ... Read Full Story
