District 9...slick Sci-Fi thriller falls short of any intelligence factors! Popcorn movie entertains...

One of my Art Professors once cautioned that when viewing a work of art - whether it be a painting or a short film - the observer should take a step back and first fathom the emotions that washed over the senses. A clever artist, after all, is capable of manipulating the elements to seduce the individual. That's the case with Neill Blomkamp's Sci-Fi thriller - District 9 - released by Tri-Star pictures. Understandably. Blomkamp started out in the biz as a director of videos and TV... Read Full Story

Lovecraft Papercraft: Elder Thing

Well, it's not Cthulhu, but it comes close. Dubbed the "Elder Things" by the Antarctic explorers who found them in H. P. Lovecraft's novella At the Mountains of Madness , these creatures were thought by the explorers to be extraterrestrials who colonized Earth one billion years ago. This papercraft Elder Thing was created by UK artist Wayne Peters for use in 28mm scale role-playing games. The PDF template is located here . Steampunk Gas Mask Papercraft

Parts of the Tron 2.0 video game take place in the "real world" as opposed to the electronic world inside a computer, so there are 3d models in the game of real world people and items. I think this gas mask appears in a scene in a laboratory. I chose to label this papercraft model " Steampunk " instead of "Tron" because of the way it is styled and also because it just wasn't all that Tron-like. ^^ The finished model is sized to be wearable but as the paper strap is not elastic you will... A virtual tour of the universe of sci-fi

WOULD you like to hitchhike to Betelgeuse, stargaze from Vulcan (before it was destroyed in the new Star Trek film, as in the image on the right!) or explore the galaxies far, far away where the Star Wars saga began? Among the highlights of last week's Sci-Fi-London film festival was a virtual tour of the night sky from a sci-fi perspective, showing some of the most famous locations from the genre's most famous movies, books and TV shows, including Star Trek, Doctor Who, The Hitchhiker's...
