You know what is great about Sci-Fi and Fantasy? They’re all futuristic or fantastic or both, so they often have their own languages/words/phrases. And then, because people who like sci-fi/fantasy are total nerds (I speak as a total nerd, by the way, so no offense meant), these languages/words...

It’s a little bit *Matrix*y, a little bit *Hellboy*ish, a little bit *Buffy,* a little bit *Beauty and the Beast* (the Ron Perlman/Linda Hamilton urban fantasy, that is). So I can’t believe how really boring the pilot is.  

The BBC sci-fi show isn't so much a TV series as a fangirl's wet dream. Where shows like Star Trek and Buffy merely inspired fan fiction, Torchwood gives the impression of having been inspired by it.
