Finding the right prom dress can be rough. A lot of the best designs come with hefty price tags, and it's almost impossible to find an economical dress that doesn't look like everyone else's. There are some dresses, however, that are simply inexcusable in any context.
8. Pretty in Pink Bag Lady
linked from boston.com
As a very young child I found the ending to John Hughes' 80's masterpiece
Pretty in Pink confusing. I knew that it was supposed to end happily: Molly Ringwald's character ended up making out with the rich dude in the rain, and she somehow "showed" the aptly-named douche Steph how she was way classier than he...i
n a pepto-bismol colored bag. The ugliness blew my mind every time I rewound the VHS tape.
7. Fuschia Tulle Vomit

Some person took a Barbie Ballgown and copied the pattern stitch for stich. And I hate that person.
6. Kelli Pickler as Princess Jasmine Prom Dress
linked from phillyblurbs.comShe gets an automatic fail on two counts:
- bare midriff (extra points for ultra-classy belly button ring)
- the cutout business around her hip bones (what function could that possibly serve?)
5. Grandmaster Flash Prom Dress
linked from weblogs.comDo you think maybe she put it on backwards?
4. Hello Kitty Prom Puke and Sock Monkey Hell

linked from whatnottoknit.wordpress.comDOUBLE FAIL: No cartoon characters allowed at prom. I'm looking at you, Dora the Explorer. Also, a
custom-made sock monkey dress will set you back $1,500. A great buy if you hate yourself.
3. Prom Pregnancy Shift

This photo is overused and ancient, but it's like the Holy Grail of horrific prom dresses. This woman is a fashion pioneer. She totally anticipated the Hollywood Baby Craze before Shiloh was a twinkle in Brad Pitt's eye.
2. Misplaced Patriotism Prom Dress
linked from shinymedia.headshift.com
While shopping for a prom dress, remember there's a reason why Miss Universe contestants don't wear their country's flags as gowns.
1. Confederate Flag "Idiot Heritage" Gowns
linked from slrc-csa.orgShamefully, there are quite a few photographs of confederate flag prom dresses on the web. This one comes courtesy of a southern belle named Jacqueline Duty out of Russell, Kentucky, who had "planned and saved" for this monstrosity since her freshman year of high school. She chose this pattern because it "showed what [she] stood for." She never made it through the doors to her prom, as school officials found the dress offensive and disruptive. Jacqueline filed a lawsuit, and won an out-of-court settlement. Disgusting AND ugly.
