Neris Thomas & India Knight’s Idiot proof diet - REVIEW
India Knight and Neris Thomas, have not only co-authored the book “Neris and India’s Idiot-Proof Diet,” but also spent time losing weight. The book is not in top ten bestsellers because it is about women and diet, but it has a personal touch to the process of reducing weight. It is unlike any other diet book, which focuses on the testimonials by the people who have already lost weight. Every chapter in the book invokes emotions towards the authors’ own success.
The diet process followed by India Knight and Neris Thomas can work for several others who think the life is short because they are super-busy with other work. As they explain,
“We’re working mothers, with four children between us. We have babies, jobs, dogs, partners, houses to clean, chores to do, homework to supervise, stuff going on. We don’t have the time to cook ourselves separate meals, or to avoid the supermarket for fear of temptation, or to work out for a couple of hours a day.”
The simple dieting procedures followed by them along with the support system for each other are the main reasons behind its recommendation by all the top women’s magazines and diet gurus just after it was published and released on January 03, 2008.
Before the book was thought to be written, India and Neris weighed 434 pounds collectively and then aimed to lose as much as 140 pounds within a year’s period, to go from a size 22 to a size 14, and they have maintained the weight loss. “One hundred forty pounds is a lot of weight. It’s as much as a whole other person (Lordy, what a thought). And we think it’s pretty damned impressive. Unusual, too. Show us a diet book written by someone who’s actually lost more than a few measly pounds and we’ll eat a whole bag of potatoes and a tub of lard for seconds,” they say in their book.
So the book is about two greedy, cocktail-loving moms, who won’t give up eating fancy food for anything, pledged to lose weight without much effort. The book is a documented proof of their efforts to lose the extra flab around their waist and body, showing that if they can do it then anyone else can lose weight easily.
Just like they say in their book, “We’re not doctors, we’re not nutritionists, we’re not over-the-hill movie stars. We’re not unusually obsessed by other people’s poos, happily enough. We have no immediate plans for an exercise DVD.” And what could be the best place than a restaurant to think of writing their experiences on paper. The idea of writing a book on diet was conceived and developed by the authors over lunch every week.
Two minds are better than one, which is rightly believed so by many. “We both knew we needed to lose weight and suddenly, during our conversation, the idea became a real possibility — because it occurred to us that we could do it together,” they say.
They were aggressive, which helped to keep them on the pre-determined track of weight loss plan and prevented them from deviating towards eating junk or unhealthy food items. The book doesn’t include information on difficult exercise or eating bitter things. “What we wanted was to find a way of eating that was on the one hand very straightforward — no calorie-counting, no points, no having to think too hard — and on the other incredibly detailed.”
Their diet menu mainly includes easy-to-prepare foods such as food containing deli meats, nuts and fruits, which do not require any special cooking. It also has cheaty, easy-peasy recipes for when you do not feel like cooking. Their menu chart has low-carb, high-protein things. The book will readily provide you with their diet food recipes, meal plans, as well as suggestion on clothing, hair and make-up on all the different stages of their diet plan.
Overall, the book is funny and it shares interesting anecdotal facts with the readers, which can be found in everyone’s life. You can read the book before your bedtime or on your way to work, but it is worth reading at least once. You can buy Neris & India’s Idiot proof diet from Amazon.com (seems like there are currently out of stok)
