Trust Me Santa, I'm a Pirate The week start off just as any other with one little exception, I was a year older. So with this being as good a reason as any, we decide to take a few days off and set sail for calmer waters. We are fortunate to live within a couple of hours of just such a destination, The Great Smokey Mountains. We usually visit the mountains a few times a year, mainly for the food and relaxation, but with a four year old on board you never really know what you may end up doing... Read Full Story
I have started a lot of my post with this opening; the weather was unseasonably warm for a Kentucky winter. Well Monday definitely fell into this category. I awoke to the temperature already in the fifties and climbing. The only thing I could think of was it was going to be a great day to smoke a cigar, or two. I got pulled together rather quickly and began to map out my smoking strategy for the day. I went to the humidor and decided that my preferred theme for the day would be robusto. I... Read Full Story
Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos The Cohiba Maduro 5 incorporates a new concept for Habanos as it utilises the highest grade Cuban grown maduro wrapper leaf. This of course can’t be said for many of the non Cuban maduro brands. The tobacco used in the making of all Cohiba cigars comes from the five best tobacco... Read Full Story

“Evening Smoke”
I had the pleasure of sitting with my family by the fire on a fine San Diego evening, talking about life and enjoying cigars. I was smoking one of the newer Perdomo sticks, the Habanos, and drinking Arrogant Bastard by Stone Brewing Company. If any of you have every had an Arrogant Bastard before you’ll know that it’s hoppy enough to kill a small horse and certainly hoppy enough to deaden your pallet a bit.
I was talking and drinking so I really didn’t focus completely... Read Full Story
“Everyday Smoke”
I was pretty stoked on enjoying this CAO L’Anniversaire and all was going well until it turned into a bubbling cauldron of tarry death! (More on that later)
Before lighting up I marveled a bit at the smooth maduro wrapper with it’s exceptionally small veins and shrink-wrapped like appearance. I lit it up and went to town. The drag was perfect and the smoke was velvety smooth. Despite a bit of an inconsistent burn the ash formed well and looked great. The flavor was... Read Full Story
I just received these legend’s in the mail and couldn’t wait to light one up. I know, I know… Your saying “Daniel, you really should have left them in the humidor for a few days to ease their traveling woes”. Moral of the story is, I didn’t care and just wanted to smoke one!
The body of the cigar looked great with that rich Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper and a slightly oily moistness. It felt great between the fingers, consistently even throughout the length of the stick. For some... Read Full Story
