Fernando Pisani has some colour in his cheeks and bounce in his step five weeks after his most recent ulcerative colitis scare that sent him home from a road trip when the Edmonton Oilers were in Atlanta. He says he didn’t feel his career was in jeopardy, but he did spend time in hospital, which is always a major worry. His intestinal disorder needs constant monitoring, but he’s feeling better, and plans on playing again in the New Year to try to revive an NHL career that’s been a horror show the past three years. Pisani has had colitis, a broken leg, sore back, ... Read Full Story

The Edmonton Oilers have announced that Mike Comrie, now out with a case of mono and Fernando Pisani stricken with a return of colitis (to which degree of seriousness we've yet heard), will both be placed on the long term injury reserve list. Fernando Pisani responded for the Oilers, who remained three points out of eighth place in the Western Conference and desperately needed St. Louis to lose as Phoenix or else they would be eliminated, too. The Oilers won the game. That much is true. It was an important game for the team to win—a 4-0 victory over the Coyotes on Monday—considering what's facing them in their schedule over the next two weeks. Edmonton played almost two good periods of hockey and honestly played well enough to win, but the team chose to let its goalie, Jeff Deslauriers, bail it out in the third period with his first shutout of the season. As coach Pat Quinn put it...
