Hi, I saw a different consultant recently and she said from my notes I had EDS and fibromyalgia. I've not heard the word fibro mentioned in association with me, but I wondered if I have it - in that I have a lot of pain......but I thought fibro was mainly back pain, and my back is one of the few parts which is fine, as long as seating is properly supportive.Can anyone help? I don't understand why there are so many doctors who do not believe in FM, and why so many people are so lacking in understanding when FM flares happen. It would be completely socially unacceptable for someone to treat, say, a cancer patient this way, or an amputee, or a diabetic. That's all taken seriously. FM isn't, and least not by most people (including many of those who should know better). Why is this, and what can be done about it?

My appeal for disability was just denied. I'm SO pissed right now. When I was in court the judge told me he believed me but needed more evidence (apparently they only looked at the last three years of medical records, not the past 10 since I've been sick), and I was told I had to see an immunologist. So I'm going to replace my bed and I'm looking for a bed that would provide the right kind of support and comfort for a person with fibromyalgia. Whenever I sleep on most beds (hotel beds are the worst) I toss and turn all night and wake up stiff and in a lot of pain. Going to the doctor because you have kidney pain, then being told you're acutely dehydrated (even though you drink about a gallon of water a day) and the copious amounts of ibuprofen you take to avoid overdoing the Vicodin or putting your liver at risk with Tylenol has started to make your kidneys shut down and swell. Solution? Drink lots of water, and lay off of any non-opiate pain killers for a while.Cheers, and FML.

I hope this is on topic....but has anyone with fibromyalgia had trouble with piercings? New piercings, old piercings, I'm wondering about both. The last piercing I got was my lip and it never healed so I had to take it out, I was wondering is it possible the fibro wouldn't let it heal?
