How is your carbon footprint? Here are a few things that might surprise you and are certainly counter to the hype.
Plastic bags are only about 1,000th of the carbon footprint of what is in the bags - 10g carbon dioxide equivalent.
Electric hand driers only use 20g CO2e.
Watching TV for an hour in front of a 42-inch plasma screen is about equal to a one-mile drive in a very efficient car - 220g CO2e.
Keeping your old car is better than buying a new one, because making a car creates...Read Full Story
We probably all owe money on something - but it isn’t doing anyone any favours!
Nobody likes to owe anyone any money - but if you needed any persuasion to pay it off sooner - think about all the good you could be doing with the interest instead:
£4 a month - become a member of WWF to help save wildlife
£20 one off donation - help Great Ormond Street Hospital
£ANY - a year - buy fair trade food instead
£ANY a quarter - change your energy supplier to a green one
I know we don’t...Read Full Story
An eco friendly business doesn’t just talk about it - it acts on it!
Depending on the type of business that you run, or the company that you work for, there could be a certain amount of long-distance travel involved. And long-haul means wasted time, staff not working and carbon emissions!
So Climate Care Day is asking: ‘Why not consider a ‘travel free’ day as part of your current business plan?’ This initiative supported by the WWF is trying to give you the opportunity to look at the...Read Full Story
Leave it to the Japanese to be this creative. Oriental Company has come up with a machine by the name of ‘White Goat’ recently. It is an innovative machine that converts your wasted office paper into toilet paper in about 30minutes. After you put about 40sheeets of paper into the machine will then shred the paper, dissolve it in the water, thin the paper out, and then dry it into toilet sheets.
The company claims it costs $0.11 to churn out one toilet roll and it will save up to 60 trees...Read Full Story

Becoming Carbon Neutral is about reducing and offsetting the value of your personal carbon emissions and therefore minimise the size of your carbon footprint (the level of carbon pollution your lifestyle produces) in order to fight climate change.
Reducing means you seek to shrink your personal carbon emissions through a mix of avoidance and energy efficiency. Offsetting means you pay companies to maintain carbon reduction projects worldwide and/or tree-planting programme, which will nullify your carbon emissions.
There are many ways you can reduce or offset your footprint. We are constantly producing new and regularly updating our facts pages with information on how you can achieve this.
Don't forget by joining our Community it means that we will be able to regularly update you when changes such as this happen.
