A community portal about File sharing with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: File sharing is the practice of making files available for other users to download over the Internet and smaller networks. Usually file sharing follows the peer-to-peer model, where the files are stored on and served by personal computers of the users. Most people who engage in file sharing are also downloading files that other users share. Sometimes these two activities are linked together. P2P File sharing is distinct from file trading in that downloading files from a P2P network does not require uploading, although some networks either provide incentives for uploading such as credits or force the sharing of files being currently downloaded.

ArtJoy Launches Pure P2P VoIP Product without Requiring any Server and Service Operations

ArtJoy Launches Pure P2P VoIP Product without Requiring any Server and Service Operations

We have experienced two generations of VoIP technologies during the past decade. The first generation of VoIP product was based on centralized or distributed server architecture that is compatible with H.323 or SIP protocol. However, the cost of operations and its lack of scalability have limited the growth of the applications. With this architecture, a service operator may soon find out that it has to constantly invest huge amount of money in both equipments and bandwidth for keeping the quality of services or face a loss of the customers.

The second generation VoIP technology, by applying a type of hybrid network architecture, resolves the problem of declining in service quality when more and more users are online in the same time. However, the second generation VoIP products also require servers for log-on and buddy list that are operated by service providers. Therefore a user may have risks of losing all his investment in his adaptive phones or calling box purchased if a service operator decides to shut down the business one day when the operator still can not figure out a way of how to make money from providing the services.

Another critical issue of today’s VoIP products is that most of the service providers require its users to apply a new telephone number, which will definitely affects its usability and adoptions. While loving its low cost, a user is also afraid of the inconvenience and uncertainty of today’s VoIP products.

To resolve the problems above, over the passed few years, ArtJoy has invested significantly for the next generation VoIP technologies based on a Pure P2P network architecture, which allows regular phones call each other free while requires no VoIP service operators for providing the services. With dozens of patents filed, this invention is named as “VoiceBT” technology. In 2008, the company’s first ambitious and long awaited product based on the VoiceBT technology – “callfreee” telephone adapter – will be launched for North America Market.

VoiceBT technology is a pure P2P technology for voice communication.  Although its data transmission protocol is similar to that of BitTorrent, its IP locating mechanism is totally different. Instead of using normal internet file or voice server to exchange IP location information as BitTorrent, Skype or Vonage does, callfreee uses PSTN (Traditional landline) analog channel for it. This is the reason why callfreee products allow users make free VoIP calls each other without requiring association with any VoIP service providers.

That doesn’t only mean no monthly fee, no increase of service fee, no charge per call, cheapest device; it also means you don’t need to worry about the service provider may go bankrupt as SunRocket did. In addition, the callfreee telephone adapter is so easy to use after the first configuration: no change to your phone number, not need to learn how to use. Figure2 illustrates the installation and use of a callfreee telephone adapter.

Then how does callfreee work?

The callfreee adapter/phone connects to your landline and broadband internet Router/Modem. Just dial a phone number and when the call is connected, the attached callfreee telephone adapter sends out a verification signal. After a compatible callfreee telephone adapter is detected on the other end, the regular phone connection will automatically switch to your broadband connection within a few seconds, and this is transparent to the callers. No matter how long the caller stays on the phone, the caller is only charged for the initial few seconds by their local/long distance telephone provider and the rest is free.

It is heard that ArtJoy will also launch a PC companion of “callfreee” phone adapter called “callfreee Talk”.  With the software, an owner of callfreee phone adapter can make a phone call to any phone number in the world from his PC just like he dials it on his home phone. For Example, a New Yorker travels to Tokyo , when he uses the callfreee Talk software on his notebook, he can not only call his home phone free, but also calls his friends in NY area like he calls them from his home. You can imagine that in the future, wherever there is internet available, people can use callfreee software installed in a PC or mobile phone to call any regular phone numbers of his family and friends free without changing the way of dialing.
