A community portal about File sharing with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: File sharing is the practice of making files available for other users to download over the Internet and smaller networks. Usually file sharing follows the peer-to-peer model, where the files are stored on and served by personal computers of the users. Most people who engage in file sharing are also downloading files that other users share. Sometimes these two activities are linked together. P2P File sharing is distinct from file trading in that downloading files from a P2P network does not require uploading, although some networks either provide incentives for uploading such as credits or force the sharing of files being currently downloaded.
Pirate Bay , a site that “helps users commit copyright infringement’ is now under more heavy fire than ever with ruling made by a Dutch court ordering all access to the site be shut off in the Netherlands within the next ten days.
The case was made against the sites three founders who were not even present, nor aware of the proceedings. When they found they sent a letter to have the ruling dismissed as they are currently seeking to make an appeal.

Black Internet, the Pirate Bay's largest bandwidth supplier, just shut down the notorious BitTorrent tracker after a court ordered it to pay a fine of 500,000 kroner ($70,800). Since about 9:30am PT, the site has been inaccessible. Just a few months ago, the Pirate Bay announced that it had been acquired by Global Gaming Factory (GGF). This sale, however, started to fall apart over the last few days. Unless the Pirate Bay can find another ISP, it will remain inaccessible until the outcome of... Read Full Story
One of the plausible guesses of what would happen when the Pirate Bay was sued was that file sharers were not only to go on doing what they wanted to do, but that other systems were going to be used rather than the all too traceable Bittorrent and P2P systems that are currently used. 10 years after Napster we are still sharing, and sharing gigabytes of data each day. There’s a cool torrent available on The Pirate Bay, one of the last cool torrents you’ll encounter on the site (as it’s due to close in a couple of days ). It’s a copy of the (almost) entire Pirate Bay, containing over 800,000 torrent files and a mockup copy of the actual website.
As you may know, The Pirate Bay actually tracks many more torrents than 800,000. Here’s the explanation for the missing files from the torrent description:
“ The index has 873671 torrents, ranging from id... Read Full Story
If you’re residing in Antarctica, chances are you are an employee of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). If so – and according to the letter recently sent by the USAP to its employees – you should not be using any P2P or BitTorrent applications because they’re…well, dangerous.
The letter starts with an example that assumes that pretty much the only thing P2P users do is pirate games, and that they don’t use any kind of antivirus protection. Anyone who fits that description is... Read Full Story
(This episode sponsored by WEPC.com) Founders of The Pirate Bay have made a deal to sell off “the world’s largest BitTorrent tracker” to a Swedish gaming company for about $7.8 million. More than 20 million visitors use the site each month.
