Josiah cooked up some new creations for his Spring Menu at Sent Sovi. With work as beautiful as his, my job is, well, easy. Check out the rest of the pics here . Read Full Story
Okay...so that's a totally cheesy title, but Roux Louisiana Kitchen in Santana Row (San Jose, CA) is a pretty fantastic fancy pants restaurant. Featuring southern-style cuisine, it's more comfort than calorie-conscious food, but you should know that from the name. The interior is stunning and the food is original and quite tasty, as I can attest to from sampling the plates I shot. Check out the photos below or the whole gallery here . This is the sentry located in the men's bathroom. I don't... Read Full Story
Why would anyone need a ten-thousand-dollar machine dedicated simply to kneading dough into varying strips and extrusions? Well apparently it makes the chef's job way easier. And if you're the Four Seasons, nothing is too good for Chef Alessandro. He's a soft-spoken guy, but I've never seen him so excited as when he's wielding the power of this diminutive, yet highly industrial piece of machinery. I had a great time capturing his pasta-making dance with his metal partner . We also shot some... Read Full Story
With the deadline for our project looming and just days away, I spent the past weekend continuously working on all the details. Looking back, I’m glad I started weeks ago – there was a lot of cooking, shopping, prepping, research, plating and photographing involved. I plated and photographed dishes two and three times before I was happy with the final result. My menu’s theme is Sunday dinner in Paris, a special meal for family – where the food is part comfort, part sophisticated and made with... Read Full Story
I love weekends. These are the days to bond with family and friends and do the things of your interest. Personal invitations are to be considered too. As I mentioned from my previous blog, I was invited to a Pool Party last Saturday (June 7) in Plano. It was the 10th birthday of Emily's (one of my Filipina friends) youngest daughter Mira. We were few at the party because she didn't invite a lot. She prepared delicious foods for the party. The cake was courtesy of June, who told Emily that she... Read Full Story
Josiah and Khin Khin, owners of Sent Sovi in Saratoga, CA asked me to shoot all their latest creations for their marketing purposes. It was a marathon shoot, only spending a couple minutes on each dish, but Josiah's creations really inspire the photographer in me. There's just so much detail to each dish I could spend an hour on each...but time is money, so I did the best I could. I hope you enjoy the photos. Oh, and I have no idea what most of these are, so don't ask. Just go to Sent Sovi... Read Full Story
About a month ago I was contacted by a staff member of Lisa's Bon Appetit in Torrance, Ca to photograph a family reunion. On top of the fantastic family photos, I shot some of the delectable food being served that evening. At every event I shoot, I always attempt take some artist photographs of the food and arrangements. Wedding vendors (especially Lisa's Bon Appetit) love this because they end up with fabulous photos to use for their company. Of course, Lisa's Bon Appetit serves up some of... Read Full Story
Ok, so the nice, truly Italian people at this new Campbell restaurant pronounced the name of their place multiple times (slowly), and I still couldn't get it right. After much inner reflection, I've concluded it's most likely "TEE-huller-REE-yuh". Regardless, the owners did a really smart job with a pretty small location, using the space well. I enjoyed taking photos there, including some high-dynamic range pics for the interior. Read Full Story

This is truly a unique dessert - variations of candied apples with some fruit and cheese. I've seen a lot of the stuff nice restaurants put out there, and so much of it is really getting tiresome. I mean, yes, I've had chocolate lava explosion or whatever you choose to call it. "Oh? You say the inside is warm and gooey? Yeah, well, so is everyone else's." You get the picture. Enough ranting, enjoy this unique dessert, it's a visual treat. Read Full Story
