Brazil experienced the smallest loss of its sprawling Amazon rainforest over the past year in more than two decades, the government said, attributing the change to its tougher environmental policies.The region, considered the world's "lungs" for its capacity to absorb carbon emissions, still lost 7,000 square kilometers (2,700 square miles) of rainforest between July 2008 and July 2009.
