A popular beach in St. Johns County is being closed to vehicles at the end of this year. The National Park Service will no longer allow cars, trucks and sport-utility vehicles on the 70 acres, or about one mile, of beach that make up Fort Matanzas National Monument, 14 miles south of St. Augustine. A 42-year-old St. Augustine woman was killed Friday night after authorities say she walked in front of a moving car.Glenadine Harding tried to cross Florida 207 when she was hit about 6:20 p.m. by a Honda sedan driven by Jill E. Scott, 55, of St. Augustine, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Other vehicles then struck Harding as well, the Highway Patrol said.
