Incidental #1,411: Why Fox News should really be called Fox Prolefeed, as I do in this blog

READER, YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED A TENDENCY ON THIS BLOG FOR YOUR CORRESPONDENT TO REFER TO FOX NEWS CHANNEL AS "FOX PROLEFEED" and its companion "free-enterprise-as-Great-White-Father" channel, Fox Business, as "Fox Prolefeed II."

And the reason is no doubt obvious: What passes for "news" on Fox News is really little more than what the Oceanic police state of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty Four called "prolefeed"--news and information that, by deliberate design, was meant to be false, inaccurate or misleading, or otherwise create unnecessary disappointment.

And was deliberately streamed to the "proles" (as in the rank-and-file masses) for the sole purpose of their pacification in line with the Party's line that proles were (in Orwell's words) "natural inferiors, like animals, who needed to be kept controlled by the application of a few simple rules."

Which brings to mind where Fox Prolefeed has recently acknowledged that it airs only nine hours of serious news in the course of a typical weekday's programme, leaving you and I wondering about the other 15 such.
