Maryland's Eastern Shore Dr. Andy Harris, backed by the Club for Growth and the Republican Liberty Caucus in his 2008 race, would soundly defeat Democrat incumbent Frank Kratovil if the election were held today. From The Hill Blog Briefing Room : Rep. Frank Kratovil (Maryland) would be one of the first Democrats to go if Republicans make significant gains during mid-term elections, and a new poll shows he has reason for concern. The Tarrance Group poll, which was conducted for state Sen. Andy Harris’s (R) campaign and obtained by The Hill, shows Harris taking a 52-39 lead in a rematch of his 2008 contest ... Read Full Story

Posted by Cato October 29, 2008 Frank Kratovil has based his campaign on two tag lines: Tough Prosecutor Independent Given Kratovil’s stands for socialized medicine, supporting Barack Obama’s “spread the wealth” economic policies, allegiance to Big Labor and the fact that such “independent” stalwarts as Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank are contributing to his campaign we know how “independent” Frank Kratovil would be if elected to Congress. How tough a prosecutor is he? He’s certainly not very tough on child molesters.  Robert Wayne Dwyer was charged with 17 counts of child sexual offenses.  Kratovil declined to prosecute 15 of those counts (Case No. 17K07006775) ... Posted by Cato October 8, 2008 Would you like a glimpse into the future? What IF Frank Kratovil actually is elected to Congress? A good indicator is to look at a “moderate”, “independent” Democrat who was elected in 2006 - Rep. Steve Kagan (D-WI). Kagan told the people of his district a lot of same things that Frank Kratovil is telling us now. What has he become? Just another stooge of the liberal Democrat leadership . Posted by Cato November 3, 2008 Congressional candidate Frank Kratovil, like most liberals, whines like a two year old every time his record is challenged.  Yet, it is he and supporters who are reaching for new lows in First District politics. First, area Democrats rampaged through the Salisbury area defacing Andy Harris and McCain/Palin signs .  Now the Kratovil campaign is using their phone bank operation to spread false information about voting hours to Republican voters. Imagine if Republican volunteers did what Frank Kratovil is doing - calling voters and telling supporters of your opponent that the polls are open until 9PM?  We’d have ... Read Full Story

Democrat Frank Kratovil, Jr. defeated Republican Andy Harris in Baltimore's 1st Congressional District as the Democrats added another seat in the House. Kratovil's victory comes a week after the election and counting of absentee and provisional ballots. However, Kratovil promised to be more of an Independent than Democrat and not stick to the Democratic agenda. "I do not intend to go to Washington to blindly follow any particular party, any particular platform, any particular ideological agenda or even any particular president," Kratovil told several dozen cheering supporters outside the Queen Anne's County Courthouse. "I intend to do what, in many respects, Congressman Gilchrest did ... Read Full Story

Democratic Rep. Frank Kratovil Jr.'s conservative voting record seems tailored to his Republican-leaning district, but he already is facing a challenge from a familiar Republican opponent. Mr. Kratovil last year defeated Republican Andrew P. Harris by fewer than 3,000 votes - less than 1 percent - securing Maryland's 1st District for Democrats for the first time in 18 years. Mr. Harris has already started raising money for a 2010 rematch. "The...
