Frederic Bourke, Co-Founder of Dooney & Bourke Handbags, Sentenced to Year in Prison

Frederic Bourke, the co-founder of the Dooney & Bourke handbag line, was sentenced to a year and a day in prison yesterday for foreign bribery. He will also serve 3 years of probation and have to pay a $1 million fine for the crime. Sources say he plans to appeal. He was convicted for investing $8 million in the early '90s with Victor Kozeny, a Czech entrepreneur, in a bribe to the Azerbaijan government in order to try to get a piece of the state's private oil company.
